Baseball

The AWABSA Baseball League has been developed over the years to offer boys the opportunity to have fun, make friends and learn a little baseball along the way. For the 200 season we had over 600 boys ages 5-18 participate in 6 divisions.

The 5/6 and 7/8 age groups are more recreational leagues for the boys to develop their skills. The 9/10 and 11/12 age divisions are still recreational but become a little bit more competitive with wins and losses accounted for and a season ending tournament. The 13/14 and 15/16 divisions include teams from other local communities that play together.

The age cut-off for all brackets is now based on age as of May 1st versus August 1st as in years past. This is to keep our organization in line with changes made at the National level for USSSA Baseball and National Little League Rules. We are aware that this will result in some boys playing more than 2 years in the same age bracket. If your son is in the same age division for the third year due to this change you can request a move to the next division. However, this can only be done once, which will result in 3 years at the next age bracket. We are also doing something exciting in the 7-8 age bracket. This age group will be split into two different brackets. Seven year olds will still use a batting machine; however 8 year olds will be introduced to kid pitch.

Some important dates to remember:

  • All Players – Registration will be February 16th and 23th
  • 9-10 Age Bracket – Tryouts date to be determined
  • 11-12 Age Bracket – Tryouts date to be determined
  • 13-14 Age Bracket – Tryout date to be determined

Try-out dates have been moved earlier in the season to accommodate Spring Break.  Hopefully Mother Nature will cooperate. Teams for ages 5-8 will be set-up by the commissioner. The seasons for the 5-8 year olds will start in June. The season will start for 9-10 and 11-12 divisions on May 15th. The season start date for 13-14 division is still to be determined. The season for ages 15+ will start after the completion of the high school baseball season. These teams are set-up by the commissioner. If anyone has any questions please email me. Hope to see you on the ball fields soon!
