The season begins by mid-April and runs through May. This is a local travel program with a game each Friday and a double header on Sundays. There is an additional cost of approximately $80.00 to play on a Spring team. This cost is for the team entrance fees. There will be a possible additional cost for uniforms & practice facilities.

The purpose of the tryouts is to place individuals on the appropriate team based on skill level. It is AWABSA's intent to form as many teams as possible within each age division depending on the number of possible players and coaches.

The FAST Softball Organization organizes a Spring Jr. High and Spring Middle School league.  Games are played on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons from early April until mid May.

The Jr. High league is broken into the Varsity and Jr. Varsity divisions.  Teams are comprised of players in 6th-8th grades. The Varsity division will have the top level players and the JV division will have the remaining players from that community.    The middle school league, also called the Minor league, is comprised of players in 4th and 5th grades.

Teams are organized with only players from the same school district.  In 2008 out of district players will not be allowed on any Spring team.  The main goal of the Spring League is to give players the opportunity to develop together for their high school team.  Several communities have 3-4 teams entered into the Spring League in order to give as many girls the opportunity to develop as possible.
